Enable My Child, a startup on a mission to modernize pediatric therapy for schools and parents, has raised $1.2 million of investment.

The funding round, led by Dallas-based CMI Ventures, will allow the firm to expand its pediatric therapy platform with the aim of providing cost-effective therapy services for schools and early intervention centers across the U.S.

Founded in 2017, Enable My Child uses technology to ensure students are diagnosed and treated for learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, speech impediments and other conditions to maximize their potential for success.

Research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that one in six children between 2 to 8 years of age has a mental, behavioral or developmental disorder. Early diagnosis and intervention can have a significant effect on their lives.

Syed Mohammed, founder and CEO of Enable My Child, said: “I was initially inspired by my own experience unknowingly struggling with ADHD as a child.

“But the idea behind Enable My Child really began to take shape as I learned more about how children are diagnosed and the limitations medical professionals encounter when trying to treat them.

“After speaking with doctors, therapists, and hundreds of parents, I came to the realization that we need to fix how pediatric therapy is facilitated.”

Supported by a network of 100 pediatric therapists and artificial intelligence-powered technology, Enable My Child offers real-time therapy sessions to children across the U.S.

Looking to transform the way physical, occupational, speech and other forms of therapy are delivered, the platform equips schools and early intervention centers with virtual, in-person and hybrid therapy.

Once students are diagnosed, Enable My Child matches them with licensed and fully vetted therapists so they can begin receiving treatment for their specific needs. As well as this, schools are supported by a dedicated Care Coordinator who can handle queries around scheduling and billing.

Enable My Child has also launched a solution called EMC Brain, which uses AI and machine learning to analyze complex medical data and help therapists find the most effective treatments for students.

Mohammed continued: “It’s important to remember that children aren’t just smaller versions of adults. You need specific skills to effectively communicate with and treat a child. 90% of the child’s brain develops by the age of 5.

“So the earlier you provide them with therapy, the higher the chances of them excelling later in life. These children are our future generation. As parents and adults, it’s our responsibility to give them a platform that will help them become the best version of themselves.”

Over the past two years, the company has used its AI solution to support a number of families. Tina, a parent, said: “Enable My Child is much more convenient than traditional therapy providers because we’re able to receive individualized treatments for our child from the comfort of our home.

“More importantly, the occupational therapist we were matched with was very thorough and really understood our child’s struggles. They provided clear and specific plans for us to help our child achieve the goals we set together.”
