5 Seconds of Summer

Keep CALM, 5 Seconds of Summer are on fire.

The Aussie pop-rock outfit light up for their fourth No. 1 in Australia with CALM (Interscope/EMI), new at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

With their latest chart leader, the Sydney outfit become just the second Australian group, after Silverchair, to see their first four studio albums debut at No. 1 on the national survey.

ARIA CEO Dan Rosen congratulated the band, whose album is the third homegrown No. 1 in Australia this year after recordings by Dune Rats and Tame Impala.

“Congratulations to Ashton, Calum, Luke, Michael and the whole 5 Seconds Of Summer team for this incredible achievement,” Rosen comments. “Getting a No. 1 album is difficult at any time, but topping the ARIA Charts in such an uncertain period shows how much their music means to their fans around Australia. Their success internationally also proves that in these times of isolation, Australian music still carries hope and optimism around the world.”

CALM also opens at No. 1 in the U.K. and narrowly misses out on a fourth No. 1 in the U.S.

Starting at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart this week is Dua Lipas sophomore set Future Nostalgia (Warner). That’s a career-high for the British singer, whose debut self-titled LP peaked at No. 8 here in April 2018.

Returning rockers Pearl Jam bow at No. 3 with Gigaton (Universal), their 11th studio album. It’s the Hall of Famers’ 12th appearance in the Top Ten on the ARIA Albums Chart and their first since Lightning Bolt, which led the survey in October 2013.

The Weeknd’s After Hours (Universal) slips from the top, 1-4, while Aussie punk rockers The Chats complete the top 5 with their debut album, High Risk Behaviour (CVA/Orchard). Formed in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, the trio previously released two independent EPs, 2016’s self-titled EP and 2017’s Get This In Ya!!

U.S. hip-hop artist Joyner Lucas makes his first impression on the ARIA Chart with ADHD (Orchard), new at No. 9, while iconic children’s entertainers The Wiggles bag their first new entry for the year with Fun And Games (ABC/Universal), arriving at No. 44. Fun And Games is the Wiggles’ 11th title to crack the ARIA Top 50.

Over on the ARIA Singles Chart, there’s been a changing of the guard as SAINt JHN’s “Roses” (Roses) rises to 2-1 in its seventh week.

“Roses” ends The Weeknd’s ten-week run at the top with “Blinding Lights” (Republic/Universal), now at No. 2.

The top five is rounded out by Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” (up 4-3 via Warner UK/Warner), Justin Bieber featuring Quavo’s “Intentions” (down 3-4 via Def Jam/Universal), and Doja Cat’s “Say So” (unchanged at No. 5 via RCA/Sony), while Dua Lipa has the week’s highest debut with “Break My Heart,” breaking in at No. 7.
